Engineering intelligence
International Women in Engineering Day (INWED), celebrated worldwide on 23 June, recognises the remarkable contributions of women and those who identify as women across the engineering profession. Established by the Women’s Engineering Society in the UK, INWED champions visibility, representation and recognition while inspiring the next generation of innovators and leaders.
In 2026, INWED celebrates its 13th year under the theme Engineering Intelligence. This year’s events will spotlight the women applying creativity, insight and courage to solve complex challenges and drive inclusive progress across industries and communities.
Engineers Australia will mark INWED with in-person events held nationwide from 15-26 June, creating opportunities for learning, connection and celebration.
Pay It Forward initiative
The Pay It Forward initiative returns in 2026, giving attendees, supporters and organisations the chance to purchase a ticket for a future engineer. Sponsors can nominate someone within their network or allow Engineers Australia to gift the ticket to an aspiring participant.
This initiative strengthens community impact and opens doors for emerging engineers to benefit from the inspiration and opportunities that INWED provides.
